Research

The Biodevices Lab main research topics are electrochemical and optical biosensors development and characterization for the detection of relevant molecules in the agrifood and clinical fields, such as DNA, proteins, antibodies and metabolites like glucose and lactate.

At the present time, the Lab has several active projects and also open collaborations with spin-offs:

  • Myo-screen project: is focused on the development of a sensor integrating genetically modified muscle cells and enzymes for the screening of the illicit anabolic compounds use in breeding.

  • AbLat project: has the goal to develop electrochemical devices for the detection of antibiotics in milk.

  • SirCoFag project: has the goal to develop electrochemical devices for the detection of phages in milk.

  • SportLat project: points towards the realization of a flexible and wearable sensor for the Lactate quantification in sweat during physical exercise.

Master and bachelor thesis proposals
